Long time since an update... I've just posted the barb comparison guide! See the difference with using different tubing with different types of barbs. You can see the article here.

Excelent.
Does anyone think there might be a difference in grippyness between Brass and Chrome barbs? I personaly only dont think that there would be a noticable difference. Next time I order from Danger Den or BeCooling ill grab one and let you guys know.

Yeah, but it probably wont affect its performance much. I am sure the chrome plating is strictly for looks.

Yeah, probably just for looks.
If you want something REALLY strong, go with the poly barbs and tygon. I thought I was going to have to CUT the tygon off of the barbs, but after some experimenting, I found out that if you hold tightly, you can slowly twist the barb from the tygong. It's in a death grip, though.

Yeah, thats what it was like getting the Vinyl off of the poly barbs.
I have a hunch that the Vinyl, Clearflex, and Tygon will all have similar gripping capabilities. Ill let you know when I get samples of the other types of tubing.

I just tested vinyl on the poly barbs, and it is pretty hard to get off. Didn't take a huge amount of pulling, but they came off. BUT, with Tygon (1/8th inch wall) I could literally pull, and pull, and pull all day. I COULD NOT get it off. I almost stretched the darn stuff the first time I put it on the poly barbs, trying to take if off!

What wall size was your Vinyl? Mine was 1/8.

I think it's 1/16. That could explain it.

Personally, I think that the waterblock would be mighty cool if it had solid 18k gold barbs. But you would have to be rich to afford it. I wonder if Bill Gates watercools? Huh? Maybe he would be of interest. Anyways, just my $.02 . Peace out all, have a nice day.
Bob
P.S. The tubes could be made of rubber.
